Terror, gore, darkness: tis the season. And who better to get your October warmed up for Halloween than Figure
(AKA Josh Gard). Of all the names in bass music, Figure is one of the heaviest. Horror themes run throughout his album art (we're talking zombies, insane asylums, pumpkin head etc), with the DJ/producer releasing a volume of fresh EDM titled "Horror" almost every year. Figure's next EP will be Volume 10 - how about that for commitment? DJing is in Figure's blood - his dad was a DJ too - so you know the live set is fire. Figure has been at this for a decade, perfecting his frightening, unrelenting bass music and crafting tunes that will make the dancefloor shudder. On stage, his frenetic set is peppered with well timed spooky samples, stomach turning bass drops, and evil beats that you can't help but love. Much like a good horror film, you can't stop this musical violence, but you can enjoy it.
Portland OR might not be the first city that comes to mind when you think of rising EDM stars, but Portland's Carbin
is here to change that. Despite his youth, the DJ/producer is bringing an originality to dub. Carbin (real name McKenzie Morrow) mixes heavy bass with trappy beats. Carbin is fun, and his tunes are party-ready.
