It is hard to stay punk, especially when you're slowly aging, holding down a 9-5, and realizing that most music fans are more into EDM than any of the punk subgenres. But the world is only getting more fucked up so punk is only getting more important. Luckily for us, steady punks Elway
haven't given up the ghost. Colorado's Elway (who got in a legal tussle with famous NFL player John Elway over their name) makes melodic, singable pop punk. The foursome has been giving us earnest tunes for more than a decade. Even though they first sprouted in 2007, Elway, then known as 10-4 Eleanor, has a late 90s/early 00s (somewhere between capnjazz and pinehurst kids) punk sound, something you don't hear that much anymore. Soaring guitars, insistent vocals, and classic pop punk delivery -including the woah-ohs you know and love - make every Elway song immediately catchy. The band toured heavily before settling into day jobs, but can still pack a punch live - because playing music is what they love to do. Expect a sweaty, urgent, set with plenty of sing along moments.
