is an indie/alternative San Francisco rock band led by Robin Lovejoy, and the city sure makes itself known in her style (she's an Eckist bellydancer with an amazing vocal ability). The band is a rock and roll dream, with influences that range from Led Zeppelin to the femme-rock singer-songwriters like PJ Harvey. Amalgamation spins free atop a winning combination of Lovejoy's guitar playing and vocal energy, and her bandmates' prowess creating tunes that can be artistic, heavy, bluesy folk rock, and more. Amalgamation's latest release "Circadian Rhythms," which is being celebrated at this CD release show, sees the band presents a set of music with songs for every emotion, but with a hint of mysticism, jazzy guitar, and hypnotic rhythms. On stage, Robin does her best Heart-meets-classical training vocals while the band creates tight, moody songs. It's immediately apparent that this band are more than just a working band, they're friends who have got each other's' backs and live to rock out on stage. That enthusiasm is easily passed on to the audience -- just try to keep yourself from moving to the beat of Amalgamation.
