5-Feb-2016 (Fri) Wherein you should come see Star Girls because the Facebook Morality Police would prefer that you not.

Thanks, Facefucks. You're awesome, as usual.

But seriously, this show is going to be great. Tonight, Fri Feb 5, immediately after Point Break Live!

Speaking of Facebook, have you ever considered doing what this commenter (3rd from the bottom) suggested and making the "Like" buttons passive so they can't be used to track and don't bog down page loading times?

    • jwz says:

Yes, I've considered it. That consideration got about as far as, "That sounds hard and I don't care that much."

Actually not that hard. Here's a simple solution by ze crazy Germans: https://github.com/heiseonline/shariff

    • jwz says:

Yeah, audit and install some massive third-party package definitely falls under the umbrella of "I don't care that much."

One probably should add that heise online is one of the most respected computer and software magazines in Germany. At least you can be somewhat sure that they'll keep supporting it.

On the other hand: everyone who cares about these things probably uses ghostery or no-script already anyway, so it's not really something I'd put my energy into either.

There are still respected computer and software magazines?

I demand that you explain this anachronistic sorcery.
