Dear Mr. Hardy:

I am writing in support of the DNA Lounge~s application for a change in liquor license from type 48 to type 47. DNA Lounge is one of San Francisco~s oldest continually operating entertainment venues since it began as a club in the South of Market neighborhood during the 1970~s. In response to changing cultural and economic trends, it is periodically necessary for such long time entertainment venues to change their programming. DNA Lounge is certainly one of our city~s important entertainment venues and this change will help it to remain as such.

It is important that our youth have safe, legal options to socialize and enjoy musical performances. The current owner, Jamie Zawinski, operates DNA Lounge with a high level of professionalism as evidenced by their support from within the entertainment industry and residents in the neighborhood. Mr. Zawinski and his staff have demonstrated that they are capable of running a live music venue while enjoying community support. For all these reasons, I encourage you to give the utmost consideration to their application for a change in license without restrictions.

Sincerely,

MARK LENO
Assemblyman, 13th District
