Bootie Berlin is coming to SF! DJ Morgoth, the resident DJ and creator of Bootie's biggest party beyond the West Coast, is the infamous creator of last year's Rick-Rolling internet meme sensation, the ridiculous Rick Astley vs. Nirvana mashup, "Never Gonna Give Your Teen Spirit Up," which got over two million views on YouTube before being pulled down. DOSVEC will bring his unique electro-hop remixes and mashups to the upstairs room, while live mashup band Smash-Up Derby rocks the house at 11 PM. And for the German Midnight Mashup Show, it's Alexis Von Fierce vs. Myster C -- with a special guest appearance by Steven Satyricon -- as they perform the German version of the classic Jay-Z vs. Nena Bootie hit, "99 Luft Problems."

Launched in 2003 in San Francisco by DJs Adrian & Mysterious D, Bootie was the first club night in the United States dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with regular parties in eight cities on three continents. Mixing and matching every conceivable musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party where everyone feels welcome, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the A.D.D. generation -- with free mashup CDs given away like candy!

At 11 PM, John!John! & the Wagonistas present "The Donner Party," a 30-minute hybrid stage show-meets-DJ dance set, re-enacting the plight of the ill-fated California pioneers who resorted to cannibalism to survive when they became trapped in the mountains during the winter of 1846/47. It's a grim history lesson... that you can dance to! In the upstairs room, the Brass Tax DJs -- who've long held down First Fridays at Amnesia -- take over with a dirty combination of breaks, electro, d'n'b, and hip-hop. DJ Nisus from Blasthaus and The Projects joins in.

DJ Rob Metal
Before there was Kool Keith, Old Dirty Bastard or 2 Live Crew -- before there was hip hop, for that matter -- there was Blowfly, performing X-rated songs with a funky groove. Born 60 years ago in Cochran, Georgia, Miami's Clarence Reid has recorded more than 40 albums during his illustrious career. He got his nickname as a child when his grandmother, after hearing him sing dirty versions of then popular songs -- like "Suck My Dick" for "Do The Twist" -- proclaimed, "You is nastier than a blowfly."

In reality, there's a split personality involved in this man's music: there's Blowfly, the outrageously garbed creator of trash classics such as "Shittin' on the Dock of the Bay" and "Porno Freak," and then there's Clarence Reid, who has recorded more than a dozen "clean" albums over the years and penned songs for the likes of K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Gwen McRae, Betty Wright, and Sam and Dave.

Pentagram is considered to be one of the most influential heavy metal acts ever, especially in the realm of the doom-metal genre. Over the years since its inception, the band has gone through a long and complicated history with many lineups and countless devastatingly heavy live shows played with feedback blasted audiences left in their wake. On the heels of just such a performance last year, Pentagram will again grace us with a resurrection of their pounding sounds steeped in the dark side of the 70s.

Direct support will come from local favorites Ludicra, who will be supporting their highly anticipated new album "The Tenant". In a sea of copycats and posers, Ludicra stand out like a pirate galleon, painted and stained with the colors of real experience, emblazoning a standard of "grey metal" more trve than your average corpse painted kvltist can even comprehend.

For two decades, Norway's Apoptygma Berzerk have stayed ahead of the curve of underground music. After turning industrial music on its head with classics like "Love Never Dies" and "Nonstop Violence" in 1996, Apop reinvented themselves as the first futurepop powerhouse in 2000 with "Welcome To Earth". In 2006, the band returned with an emo/synthrock epic, "You and Me Against the World", and last year's "Rocket Science" brought guest appearances from bands as diverse as the Dresden Dolls and Good Charlotte.

Direct from the UK, Bootie is proud to present a rare Stateside appearance from The Kleptones, one of Britain's best mashup producers. Since 2003, they've released six full-length mashup albums -- all for free on the internet -- including the seminal Queen bootleg album, "A Night At The Hip-Hopera." Their recently-released double album -- their first in two years -- immediately blew up the blogosphere with its dual sides: "Uptime" provides the Bootie dance floor bangers, while "Downtime" plays the role of a chilled-out after-party. At 11 PM, live mashup rock band Smash-Up Derby takes the stage, while in the upstairs room, Electro-Bootie presents the Future Universal DJs, as they return to rock the electro remixes. And for the Midnight Mashup Show, it's the Bootie stage debut of Miss Rahni, winner of Trannyshack's most recent "Star Search" competition.

"Our music is formed from the marrow of creative intercourse. Art for art's sake. Indeed. And just as Artaud taught: our music is a protest against the senseless constraints that reduce "culture" into an inconceivable Pantheon of humdrum, ineffectual lesser gods and puppets of sterility & puritanism. In antiquity, the Theatre was created as an outlet for all of life's repressions and to proclaim to one and all that life's intensity is still intact. Just as light is born from the burning flame, we must fight for the glow. But we warn you, this music, our message, and these lessons are not for every soul. Some will be devoured. Others reborn. Remember, do not slide into bed with the Devil unless you intend to fuck." -- Otep Shamaya
