It's Folsom Street
Fair Weekend, and to celebrate, Bootie
brings together seven West Coast mashup DJs from three
different cities -- Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle --
to converge on the decks! Spinning a feature set on the main
floor will be DJ Paul V. from Los Angeles, creator of the
infamous, long-running club Dragstrip 66 and resident DJ at
Bootie LA. From the Seattle Eagle and FrankenBoot, it's the
return of Bootie fave DJ Freddy, King of Pants. Also spinning
upstairs will be LA's DJ Shyboy and DJ RawBurt, creator of
LA's gay mashup night, Blender. House band Smash-Up Derby will
preview their sexed-up, fetish-themed set for the next day's
Folsom Street Fair, and for the Midnight Mashup Show,
Suppositori Spelling -- from Truck's Sunday night show,
Cocktailgate -- returns to the stage.
Launched in 2003 in San Francisco by DJs Adrian & the
Mysterious D, Bootie was the first club night in the United
States dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the
bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the
world, with monthly parties in eight cities on three
continents. Mixing and matching every conceivable musical
genre, era, and style into one big dance party where everyone
feels welcome, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the
A.D.D. generation -- with free mashup CDs given away like
candy!
Bootie's DJs and house band Smash-Up Derby, as well as guest
mashup DJs from around the world, keep your brain guessing and
body dancing with creative song combinations, celebrating --
and satirizing -- the many different forms of music. Bootie
also presents the infamous Midnight Mashup Show, featuring
local drag and burlesque performers. Bootie showcases the best
mashup productions from around the globe ... because one song
at a time just isn't enough!
