In late 1987, artist/performer Groovie Mann and musician Buzz McCoy met one night in a dark and seedy Chicago bar. Discovering their common love for tabloid newspaper tales of sex and Satan, kitschy horror flicks, and trashy exploitation films, and boys started conjuring up the plot for their own B movie to be called My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Yet without much experience and limited access to video equipment, the duo scratched their dreams of celluloid, but decided to transmute the project's accompanying soundtrack into a live band scenario. To accompany their vision, they also formed a trio of bodacious and sultry back-up singers/dancers known collectively as The Bomb Gang Girlz, and later that year the group hit the road!

In continuation of their 20th Anniversary celebration, this show will be reminiscent of the infamous "1989 Inferno Xpress Tour". It will feature many songs from the Wax Trax years: including hits like "Kooler Than Jesus", "A Daisy Chain 4 Satan", "The Days Of Swine & Roses", "The Devil Does Drugs", and, of course "Cuz It's Hot"!

"Few things are finer than drowning in anticipation for a new album -- having that album arrive and, most importantly, having that album more than satisfy said anticipation. The Bittersweet Constrain is wonderfully dark, mischievous and mesmerizing... twilight tales of spurned love, untimely ends and thoughts lost in the shadows, slowly creeping unseen and meaning to not merely embrace, but drag us down into those oh-so-wrong exalted states. What a bloody good record." -- L'Ennui Mélodieux

Live painting by Shrine
We invite you to eat, drink, dance and make merry while offering up some abundance to this year's Burning Man community temple space, Basura Sagrada. For years, people have relied on the temple as a physical space of transcendence, a place to connect to their own sense of the metaphysical and provide meaningful offerings and prayers to the beyond. Now, we come to you in great need of your financial support so that we may continue to make the temple a reality!

The Sagrada Soiree offers many ways to tithe along with fellow burners, patrons, and temple supporters. With sumptuous dishes creatively served by temple avatars, tasty libations, performances by mind-blowing troupes, live painting with Shrine and others, it's a unique event not to be missed! In addition, we will be hosting an incredible art auction featuring one-of-a-kind works by artists and friends of the temple, some special presentations by the Basura Sagrada creators, and other delights to complete this lavish evening gala. Plus, it's all set to a beautiful soundtrack by some of the best downtempo talent in the city!

Later, we will throw open the doors to the entire community, and turn up the heat (and the volume) for some splendid late-night celebration. With more performance, more music, and more art than you can believe, Sagrada will provide an exciting peek at what this year's temple has to offer!

Midnight mashup show by Suppositori Spelling

Free mashup CDs to the first 100 people through the door!
Tonight, the internationally-infamous MC Jelly Donut -- yes, he's a rapping jelly donut -- joins Bootie house band Smash-Up Derby, as they bust out a few live hip-hop mashups. Also in the main room, guest DJ Fox returns to the decks for his first prime-time Bootie sets. In the upstairs, it's the Madonna Mashup Room - all Madge mashups, all night! DJs Earworm and Adrian keep it shockingly interesting as they mashup the Queen of Pop. And for the midnight mashup show, Suppositori Spelling performs her tour-de-force lip-sync number, a raunchy and comic mashup of "Love To Love You Baby."

Launched in 2003, Bootie was the first club night in the United States dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with monthly parties in seven cities on two continents. Mixing and matching every conceivable musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party where everyone feels welcome, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the A.D.D. generation -- with free mashup CDs given away like candy!

Resident DJs Adrian, the Mysterious D, and Dada keep your brain guessing and body dancing with creative song combinations, celebrating -- and satirizing -- the many different forms of music. Guest mashup DJs from around the world are featured, and the infamous midnight mashup show showcases popular local drag and burlesque performers.

B'nai Rebelfront

DJ Sake One (Local 1200)
Bilal, brings his Philladelphia roots and affection for soul music to the stage in a rare trio performance with Blue Note recording artist and musical director for both Bilal and Mos Def, Robert Glasper on keys. Considered a star in the nu-soul genre, Bilal's earnest harmonies tie closely to the likes of his peers; Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and D'Angelo but with a panache that is undeniably his own. His "break out" occurred in 2000, when hip hop impresario, Common featured Bilal on his seminal record, Like Water For Chocolate. Bilal's debut album, 1st Born Second met critical acclaim and showcased his eclectic range and vocal prowess. The album dances between boom bap production and sensuous love ballads, an intriguing journey for the listener. Bilal's sophomore album, Love for Sale has yet to enjoy an official release date but has made waves nonetheless with bootleg distribution. Bilal, who is an impeccable live performer, trained in classical jazz and big band symphonies, offers up a perfect Father's Day celebration with this rare and intimate performance.

Tomorrow's Bad Seed

DJ Mr. E (Da Joint / Papalote)
Grammy nominee Banton, a native of London, had his first break into the music business on English Beat's classic 1982 album Special Beat Service and has rightly earned the spotlight ever since. Nearly three decades later, Pato Banton is still the efficacious performer; approaching reggae music with a soulful and light hearted character.

Born Patrick Murray, the monkier Pato ("wise owl") Banton ("heavy weight DJ) was passed to him from his elders who gave him his earliest inspirations in music and life. His music has always been a testament to the evolutionary process of music and, indeed, life and has explored melodic island sounds while never losing focus. His mission remains to spread truth, beauty and goodness through reggae music, and that he does. As he moves into what he calls "his final chapter", Pato's spirituality is ever increasing as displayed on his most recent releases Never Give In and double disc, The Words of Christ.

Even if you haven't grown up surrounded by it, you recognize the sound. Jawaiian or island music has come a long way since its beginnings in the late '80s and early '90s. Its fusing of contemporary Hawaiian singing style and instrumentation of Jamaican reggae rhythms, Jawaiian Music has become the sound of three Honolulu radio stations and Hawaii's most profitable music scene.

As a hot contributors of Jawaiian music, alongside with Hawaiian and Reggae melody, Three Plus is currently one of Hawaii's very own favorite bands. Since taken the Hawaiian islands by storm since 1992, Three Plus is concurrently in high rotation with the local stations in Hawaii, Japan, Guam, and the U.K. They are a highly energetic group that consist of men that have come together through their love of sports and solidified with the love of music.
