NEW MODEL ARMY

punk. industrial.

$12 advance;
$15 door.

Performing live:

New Model Army
Stromkern
Vale

With DJs:
Decay (Death Guild)
Hicksmokey (Drunken Monkey)
Malderor (Fandango)

"It's all a very long way from the 1980s rash of post-punk, proto syndicalist agit-pop, but New Model Army have prevailed. As dedicated as ever to their craft of melodic rock with something to say, front man Justin Sullivan has wrapped his vocal chords around a dystopian wealth of words that invoke the twisted souls of Nick Cave and Henry Rollins at their best. The addition of blues guitar master Marshall Gill has given the band greater musical scope." --Nick Churchill

"Fusing hip-hop vocals and rhythms with with majesty of 19th century classical compositions and the furor of post-industrial rock, Stromkern have been carving out a unique sound for over a decade. Initial releases were heavily influenced by the danceable sounds of the European electro scene, but already the influences of Ned's classical training and love of hip-hop and noise were readily apparent."

Midnight mashup show by Miss Molly

Free mashup CDs to the first 100 people through the door!

Launched in 2003, Bootie was the first club night in the United States dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup -- and is now the biggest mashup event in the world, with monthly parties in seven cities on two continents. Mixing and matching every conceivable musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party where everyone feels welcome, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the A.D.D. generation -- with free mashup CDs given away like candy!

Resident DJs Adrian, the Mysterious D, and Party Ben keep your brain guessing and body dancing with creative song combinations, celebrating -- and satirizing -- the many different forms of music, while live house band Smash-Up Derby rocks the house every month at 11 PM. Guest mashup DJs from around the world are featured, and the infamous midnight mashup show showcases popular local drag and burlesque performers.

Tonight, Bootie is proud to present -- live on stage -- the triumphant return of DJ Moule, one of the brightest stars of the currently-hot French bootleg scene. Mixing indie rock with classic rock and dance beats, Moule has crafted some of Bootie's most crowd-pleasing mashups. A natural stage performer, he'll also be joining house band Smash-Up Derby for a live mashup or two. Upstairs, it's the Under Cover Lounge with guest DJs Earworm and Suppositori Spelling, featuring twisted and unique cover songs, all night! And for the midnight mashup show, Miss Molly makes her Bootie stage debut, performing to a Richard Cheese lounge number.

Coquettishness meets bombast, kittens meet rattlesnakes; Rocket is the launching pad for a new generation of pop flounce. The all-girl group mixes 60's girl band innocence with 80's hair metal bravado. They may be young, but their souls were born to boogie.

Also spinning on the main floor are a trio of Northern California's best mashup DJs - San Francisco's very own Matt Hite, DJ Tripp from Santa Cruz, and David X of Sacramento. Together, they'll also be joining guest DJ KidHack in the upstairs room for Electro-Bootie, our new "club-within-a-club" featuring electro bootlegs, remixes, and covers. Performing live:

Xanopticon (Hymen / Peaceoff / Zhark)
Endif (Crunch Pod)
666Gangstaz (5lowershop / Teenage Suicide)
Synchronicity Frequency (Pan!Zen)
Rudement (Pan!Zen)

With DJ Intoner (.SYSTEM. / Meat / Death Guild)
Visuals by Orgnsm

Xanopticon's music is often strange and alienating, with a speed and complexity matching most IDM but it's sentiment being closer to dark drum+bass. It has been described as "waves of breaks: almost calming ambient music built out of intense rhythm structures." Due to this heaviness, he is often compared to Venetian Snares, who has an equal ability for manipulating small snippets of sound.

Endif: Experimentation, live performance, technical accumen, and pushing aesthetic boundaries are core values. Emphasis is placed more upon energy, emotion, context and texture than on stale commercial formulas, towering arrangements or catchy pop hooks.
