devoted to the best in alternative dance music from the New
Wave era of the late 70s and early 80s. Each event features a
tribute to one of the seminal acts of the period. You'll hear

Launched in 2003, Bootie was the first club night in the
United States dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of
the bootleg mashup - and is now the biggest mashup event in
the world. Mixing and matching every conceivable musical
genre, era, and style into one big dance party where everyone
feels welcome, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the
A.D.D. generation - with free mashup CDs given away like
candy! Resident DJs Adrian, the Mysterious D, and Party Ben keep your brain guessing and your feet dancing with creative song combinations, while live house band Smash-Up Derby rocks the house every month at 11 PM. Guest mashup DJs from around the world are featured, while the infamous midnight mashup show showcases popular local drag and burlesque performers. Bootie... because one song at a time just isn't enough. This month, it's the Bootie Holiday Party! DJ Adrian will be spinning a "very special" all-Christmas music mashup set from 10-11 pm. Smash-Up Derby will also throw a few holiday-themed mashups into their set. Oakland's DJ Jay-R is this month's guest DJ, and Malderor and Redstickman from Fandango turn the upstairs into the "Xmas Lounge." is led by Kenzi, who is known for performing outrageous stunts
on stage, such as breaking neon lights with his head, flinging
vegetables with a baseball bat, and tumblling around on a pile
of thumbtacks. The band has made the Japanese Visual Kei scene
shiver with their unique, out of control style. Hagakure is a Visual Kei band created by Kaya that skillfully expresses the essense of Japanese tradition and style. Its theme, based on "Happiness" and a blend of Japanese theater and poetry, charms and mesmerizes the audience. Even those who belong to the darkest side of the Visual Kei world would be receptive to the universal message of Hagakure's songs. |
