Midnight mashup show by Monistat

Free mash-up CDs to the first 75 people through the door!

Launched in 2003, Bootie was the first club night in the United States dedicated solely to the burgeoning artform of the bootleg mashup - and is now the biggest mashup event in the world. Mixing and matching every conceivable musical genre, era, and style into one big dance party where everyone feels welcome, Bootie provides the soundtrack for the A.D.D. generation - with free mashup CDs given away like candy!

Resident DJs Adrian, the Mysterious D, and Party Ben keep your brain guessing and your feet dancing with creative song combinations, while live house band Smash-Up Derby rocks the house every month at 11 PM. Guest mashup DJs from around the world are featured, while the infamous midnight mashup show showcases popular local drag and burlesque performers. Bootie... because one song at a time just isn't enough.

This month, Bootie is proud to present French superstar DJs Loo and Placido, in their first American appearance! This duo are two of France's most popular DJs, with a weekly national radio show, and remix work for several French and European artists. Also appearing this month is local rapper MC Jelly Donut (infamous for his public feud with Lady Sovereign) who will be joining house band Smash-Up Derby for couple live mashups. And upstairs, it's bootleg remixes from Connecticutt's Atom and SF's very own Kid Hack.

Cat's Meow presents

A ROCKSTAR IS BORN

alternative. indie. industrial.

8pm - 2am.

$5 advance; $8 door.

Performing live:

We Are Invisible
VTG
John Anaya Trio

We Are Invisible is a three-piece, female fronted original rock band from SF. Described as "heavy smart-rockers", the sound mixes 70's progressive, 80's punk and 90's rock. One of the most unique and powerful qualities of We Are Invisible is their ever-changing, almost schizophrenic style. It is a result of their diverse influences from Underoath, Clutch, Mars Volta and Sparta to Heart and Concrete Blonde.

VTG has been likened to Nine Inch Nails. VTG's sound is at heart industrial downbeat, but understatement is reconfigured as outcry as trip-hop and funk beats are carved up with heavy sound textures and rock guitar, all crooned over by voice on the edge of breaking apart.

"John Anaya makes me wanna get sloppy drunk and make out on the sidewalk. If Kid Rock was cool he'd someday make a record like this one. John sings with every limb on these songs -- all his voice PLUS his singing guitar; the ebo is his friend." -- SFBG

Maldroid are a different breed. If Brian Jonestown Massacre was slipping roofies in The Dandy Warhols' drinks, then taking a swim in an ocean filled with The Faint, you'd only begin to describe them. Reminiscent of The Phenomenauts, yet more Catholic Boy's School.

Astral: a My Bloody Valentine-esque sound with prolific lyrics and catchy make-you-want-to-slash-your-wrists melodies.

The Frail: Postal Service meets Belle and Sebastian with heartfelt but playful lyrical imagery. Dreamy ethereal melodies, with fierce pop sensibility.
