Wherein we witness archæology.

Speaking of Halloween flyers... A few weeks ago, Buz gave me this old DNA Lounge Halloween flyer he dug up. Based on the day of the week, we figure it must be from 1986. Howie Klein's House of Horror! (And we still have the same phone number! Spooooooky.)

That stamp was issued in 1980:

And 1980 also has a Friday, Oct 31st:
But DNA Lounge wasn't called that until 1985.
Oh, damn. I thought I was being clever.
You didn't rename the club?
No, he didn't. See the history of how he came to own the Lounge, and what the name DNA allegedly means.
More specifically.
I still seek details on what was going on here in the years between 1977 and 1985; I know almost nothing about that period, including what additional names the club had.
The stamp was issued in December 1980.
Why were they using a $0.19 stamp anyway? Postcards did not cost that much until 1991.
Yeah, I saw December but was under the impression from that page that that's when the stamp poster was issued. But I didn't try to verify it with any other source. Given the DNA wasn't named as such until 1985, it doesn't much matter anyway. I didn't know stamps stayed in print/circulation so long, though.
So how are you going to top two round-trip tickets to Mazatlan?
"I was drugged and left for dead in Mexico, and all I got was this stupid t-shirt."
Yeah, that's why I put the year on the flyer. I figure the flyer's also a memento, and it's nice to know the year in that case.
The other reason is for people like this one guy I know, who found one of our flyers at Rasputin like 2 years after the event, and was like "wow, they're great, I love that band, can't wait to see 'em!" What's great is he still didn't notice the year on the flyer! :)
that FLYER. fucking AWESOME.
someday i can be old like buz and impress kewl klub owners with my nifty flyer collection!
so you talk about owning a purple suit, and what costume but the Joker would work for that?
behold your answer:
I got sucked into the long and winding path of the log from the beginning... Needless to say, I saw up very late. Exactly which decade does it look like you'll make it to profitability? And yes, excellent flyers. :D
